Job Summary
As an intern in the Merchandising & Marketing Internship Program (MMIP), you’ll learn how to apply your analytical skills, classroom learning, and interest in retail, products, and customers to make a meaningful contribution to the growth of our company. Over the 10 week long program at our corporate headquarters in Deerfield, IL, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a group of innovative individuals focused on guiding the growth of the leading drugstore retailer.

You will join a team within Merchandising or Marketing and own a project directly aligned to a key corporate initiative that will develop your analytical, communication, and leadership
abilities. You will become immersed in the merchandising world by working on cross-functional
teams, learning how to use merchant tools, and competing with your fellow interns in a summer- long case study presentation to leadership. In addition, through social events with coworkers, professional networking sessions, and exposure to senior leadership, you will truly feel like part of the Walgreens family.

The program is designed to provide you with a full experience as to what your career within Walgreens could look like. We position you to succeed with training, exposure to the business, social activities, mentorship, a case competition, and performance management sessions for your continued growth and development. Previous Merchandising & Marketing Interns have worked on projects on teams within Category Management, Merchandising Initiatives, Space Management, Owned Brands, Paid Media and Brand Marketing.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs various activities that contribute to the strategy development process for the assigned business unit.
  • Utilizes various tools and resources to analyze information and make recommendations to support the business.
  • Provides general day to day support across the various divisions within Walgreens.
  • Suggests recommendations to leadership for improving and updating policies and processes.
  • May deliver a project aligning to strategic priorities and present to manager/leadership upon completion.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program with 2 semesters remaining upon start date
  • Experience communicating with key stakeholders via writing reports and presenting the information.
  • Experience collaborating with teams
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
