Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the operation, training and development of facility team members supporting the pharmacy activities at a Centralized Services site, including registered pharmacists, technicians and support personnel, to ensure compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations and quality standards. Collaborates with members of the Pharmacy and Retail Operations team to proactively address proposed 50 state Board of Pharmacy regulations with policy support and analysis/management of proposed regulatory rules, and implementation of passed regulations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manages the day-to-day support and operations of the Centralized Services business units with respect to quality measures.

Develops and maintains Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.
  • Oversees necessary security protocols to ensure protection of patient privacy in line with the company HIPAA guidelines. Responsible for maintaining all records and following the laws and regulations regarding the pharmacy practice. Reviews pharmacist licensure and pharmacy technician registration status and renewals.
  • Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes. Builds and maintains employee morale and motivation. Ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies. Fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Acts as the regulatory compliance subject matter expert for Centralized Services Fulfillment sites. Actively participates in stakeholder and vendor meetings to ensure project plan is compliant with all regulatory requirements while meeting key business objectives and timelines.
  • Evaluates best practices, methodology and tools for continuous process improvement. Develops and implements documentation and process to maintain alignment and ensure compliance to laws, rules and regulations.
  • Transfers application of Regulatory knowledge across functional lines, promoting cross-functional teamwork and empowerment to achieve established objectives related to product integrity, technical development and regulatory compliance.
  • Defines and assesses pharmacy regulatory/legislative actions and potential actions for all regulatory/licensing authorities by state and provides guidance and potential action plans to Managers, State Government Relations, and/or outside lobbying with the vision of optimizing patient care outcomes and the effective conduct of Company business.
  • Responsible for the implementation process of new regulatory approaches.
  • Tracks, monitors, and acts on pending and enacted legislation and governmental activities based on input from internal partners, business units, and trade associations.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with Boards of Pharmacy members to ensure the continued fostering of and the advancement of pharmacy practice.
  • Develops and reviews quality programs for the site(s) to ensure compliance with all established pharmacy regulations and program.

Basic Qualifications

  • Registered Pharmacist with at least two years of experience as a pharmacist.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in multiple states as required by Centralized Services or willing and able to obtain licensure in multiple states within six months of position start date in order to service as PIC for facility licensing across multiple states.
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community and with vendors.
  • Experience prioritizing, performing, and making decisions while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, empowering, training staff and fostering a team environment.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet).
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree/MBA
  • Experience with a Lean Six Sigma environment.
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, delegating, allocating, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
  • Walgreens management experience.
  • Experience analyzing data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and design solutions.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to various audience levels inside and outside of an organization.
  • Experience in using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
