Job Summary

Oversees a team of decision scientists, behavioral scientists, and business analysts to delivers best in class data insights to drive business growth by using decision science and advance analytics tools. Lead a team of decision scientists, behavioral scientists, and business analysts using data analytics tools including Teradata, Hadoop, Biq Query, Python, Power BI and analyze and interpret the data and apply findings by providing managerial leadership in the development of a vision for Walgreens Customer Loyalty and Insights activities. Working with business units including Merchandising, Marketing, IT, CTO organization to determine what data is available and what data needs to be collected, categorized, and analyzed. Create, validate, test and update algorithms and models for identifying critical factors affecting consumer behavior and use visualization software such as Tableau to present findings. Make business recommendations to stakeholders based on ML models and advance analytics collaborate with crossfunctional teams to inform assortment, pricing and buying decisions.

Job Description
  • Develops a strategic plan (short and longterm) around the execution of corporate initiatives and leading and overseeing the activities for the area of responsibility across the company and business groups.
  • Builds strategy and inputs to inform annual long range planning cycle. Leads process reviews and development of strategies to meet financial targets, and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Guides and mentor, a team of data scientist to use a wide range data science technique for descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analyses.
  • Sets the vision for manipulation and analyses of large and complex data sets.
  • Shares highly complex information related to areas of expertise. Interacts with senior management to keep abreast of objectives and report on the execution thereof. Advises and makes actionable recommendations to executive management on strategic initiatives related to developing a customer focused organization.

  • Oversees and directs the work of director, managers and their subordinates. Obtains and allocates resources to meet operating plans. Ensures the ongoing training and development of direct reports. Develops and mentors staff through onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes and builds and maintains employee morale and motivation and ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies and fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or a related field in business and at least 8 years of experience extracting and analyzing data, and producing key insights and predictors OR a high school degree/GED and at least 12 years of experience extracting and analyzing data, and producing key insights and predictors
  • Knowledge of open source data science and statistics packages such as Python, R, Spark, etc.
  • Experience in data science, advanced analytics, or statistics. Ability to interrogate data, perform analyses, interpret data, and present to business audiences.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, including the executive level.
  • Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Experience interacting and influencing others at the executive level.
  • Experience creating opportunities and leading initiatives that impact ROI and or an organization's profitability
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree OR MBA
