Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) specialist role will support the development and implementation of programs and strategy leading to a sustainable EHS culture across all Walgreens Supply Chain Operations. This role in partnership with the Supply Chain EHS Manager and business unit stakeholders will develop consistent, effective EHS programs and practices, provide training tools and processes for measuring effective outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
- Assists in the development and implementation of proactive, effective and sustainable EHS programs per regulatory requirements of specific business units.
- Implements and leads injury/illness prevention and EHS awareness strategies.
- Conducts, monitors and utilizes EHS compliance assessments to recommend and implement process/program improvements.
- Communicates and educates team members on EHS standards and practices.
- Identifies and communicates policies and process change requirements that address exposure to risk and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identifies opportunities to drive continual improvement through innovation and optimization of EHS programs and practices.
- Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. Maintains safety equipment and inventory and performs periodic safety inspections.
- Handles regulatory correspondence around compliance violations. Prepares environmental impact statements.
- Assists in the evaluation and preparation of contracts for hazardous waste disposal firms.
- Applies for permits and renewals.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in the development and/or implementation of EHS programs or High School/ GED and at least 4 years of experience in the development and/or implementation of EHS programs.
- Experience working with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.
- Experience conducting EHS assessments.
- Experience providing employee training.
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheets and database management.
- Willing to travel up to 80% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and at least 5 years of experience in the development and/or implementation of EHS programs.
- Experience in a warehouse, supply chain or retail environment.
- Experience in claims and risk management.
Salary Range$80115 - $128310 / Salaried
