Provides strategic oversight for WBA’s AML, BSA and OFAC policy compliance. Responsible for overall program design, oversight and serving as compliance lead for third parties including MSB partner and compliance software provider. Serves as leader of the AML compliance program.

This role will work with colleagues in the U.S. in Finance, Legal, and Operations to manage the company’s AML and KYC policies and practices and to ensure that the firm complies with Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, anti-terrorist financing, sanctions, and industry anti-money laundering laws and regulations. The AML Officer will also provide strategic consultation to international colleagues on financial services compliance initiatives

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides strategic leadership over the AML compliance program, including design and implementation of a strategic global AML compliance operations plan. Works in alignment with Senior Director, ABAC, VP, Global Privacy Officer, VP, International Compliance and Head, LATAM Legal and Compliance, to lead in identification and implementation of AML operational enhancements.
  • Partners with global leaders to help identify, manage, and mitigate AML compliance risks in existing and emerging operational areas. Influences business partners and stakeholders and drives to results with measurable achievements.
  • Oversees and ensures overall BSA compliance. Assists in-house counsel in responding to regulatory or enforcement inquiries regarding AML policies or issues. Works closely with Legal and various operational areas to monitor and evaluate departments’ compliance with law, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Assures that the company properly files reports and creates and maintains records in accordance with the requirements of the BSA. Assures that the AML program is updated as necessary to reflect current BSA requirements and related guidance.
  • Designs and strategically identifies continuous improvement for program elements including policy/procedures, training, monitoring, risk assessment, governance and reporting
  • Provides strategic oversight and directs project relating to implementation of compliance management software. Provides strategic consultation on compliance programs for legal entities located outside the US. Consults with internal business partners on product development
  • Defines strategic compliance plan for oversight of financial products (e.g., money remittance, bill pay, general purpose reloadable).
  • Leads negotiations and directs compliance activities with external business principals and partners.
  • Prepares and present reports for senior leadership, the Board of Directors / Audit Committee, committees, and, as necessary, business units.
  • Shares highly complex information related to areas of expertise. Interacts with senior management to keep abreast of objectives. Transfers knowledge and collaborates across functional lines and/or across departments. Interacts with direct reports and peers in management / customers / vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs. Builds and enhances key internal and external contacts.
  • Sets financial, operational and quality objectives and develops master operational plans. Plans, develops and manages departmental AML expense;
  • Serves as principal point of contact and/or spokesperson in contact with regulators and law enforcement
  • .Directs through manager and staff who mentor, coach and evaluate their responsive teams and develop employees through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in AML compliance
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar certification.
  • Experience driving change and growth in a business, including working with a corporate management team contributing to company-wide strategy and implementation.
  • Global AML compliance program experience including development of compliance strategic plan and implementation in accordance with plans
  • Experience utilizing and leveraging systems and technology to enhance compliance operations.
  • High degree of comfort with computers and technology, and a functional understanding of how technology is applied to business and regulatory problems.
  • Experience developing compliance solutions that satisfy relevant regulations while executing sound business judgment.
  • Experience with the laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), The USA Patriot Act, OFAC, FinCEN, and SAR requirements.
  • Experience with development of monitoring protocols and data analytics.
  • Experience with technology solutions relating to AML compliance.
  • Serves as principal point of contact and/or spokesperson in contact with regulators and law enforcement.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to senior level executives within an organization.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 3 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to/at least 40% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or an MBA.
  • Experience at a large retail or financial institution with an international customer base.

Salary Range$136000 - $231300 / Salaried
