Job Summary:

Responsible for developing and fostering alliances and partnerships with National Accounts. Accountable for developing and implementing a strategic account operating plan that ensures profitable access across key Walgreens business units and leads internal cross functional teams that enhance Walgreens competitiveness and market share. Must also be capable of integrating both horizontally and vertically within large, complex customers in order to successfully communicate Walgreens value proposition.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Integrate with key executives and other decision making personnel within account to align account opportunities and business objectives with Walgreens business objectives.
  • Represent entire business unit portfolio and ensure profitable access.
  • Negotiate profitable customer contracts, direct customer initiatives and special projects.
  • Facilitate and manage executive to executive interactions and meetings.
  • Lead and direct cross functional teams that matrix with customers business. Regional accounts, managed markets marketing, sales and district pharmacy constituents.
  • Collaborates with internal manufacturer or pharma relations and marketing or brand teams to proactively identify business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative internal relationships across key business units. Ensures BU leadership is involved and educated on our account strategy and regularly meets with internal stakeholders to provide updates or status on account status impacting their LOB.
  • Drive key Walgreens business objectives and lead organizational change.
  • Develops, maintains, and deploys reporting tools and metrics to ensure transparent views of the current activity state, progress against plan, and business impacts of the functions operations. Utilizes metrics, internal or external environmental and business intelligence to provide the early identification of new business opportunities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and at least 8 years of experience in direct Sales and Account Management for National Accounts in the Healthcare space such as Pharma, Health Systems, Wholesale, GPO, Retail Pharmacy, Managed Markets OR High School/GED and at least 11 years of experience in direct Sales and Account Management for National Accounts in the Healthcare space such as Pharma, Health Systems, Wholesale, GPO, Retail Pharmacy, Managed Markets.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Executive or C suite presentation, negotiation and sales or account management.
  • Experience negotiating with outside vendors, including negotiating contracts, prices, resolving service issues and reconciling differences.
  • Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget and has strong financial acumen.
  • Experience in leading initiatives and Knowledge of Health Systems P and Ls or direct P and L responsibility in one or more of these areas Pharma, GPO, National Accounts, pharmacy marketing, pharmacy sales, and or managed care.
  • Experience developing innovative and strategic client relationship techniques.
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to or at least 50% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience of the healthcare marketplace (Consultants, Brokers, PBMs, Employer, Health Plans, Pharma, Health Systems, various other providers, etc), the various lines of business (Commerical, Medicare, Medicaid, etc) and the various healthcare services provided in the overall ecosystem (medical, pharmacy, providers, etc)
  • Experience working in the benefits / healthcare consulting industry.
  • Master’s degree or MBA and at least seven (7) years of experience in client/customer/account management; at least 3 years of experience in a national account manager capacity, managing the entire portfolio across those accounts.
  • Existing customer relationships with healthcare and / or benefits consulting firms and their various healthcare stake holders (health plans, employers, PBMs, pharma, health systems, etc.)
  • Experience in healthcare industry specifically related to B2B / payer segment.
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates and deadlines.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
