Job Summary

Job Responsibilities
- Participate in stewardship, strategy, claim reviews and other meetings with third party claims administrators, outside defense counsel, claim advocates and internal stakeholders
- Oversee the Workers’ Compensation and Liability claims programs, including settlement authority, strategy, goals, solutions, and litigation (including coordinating communication with insurers regarding mass tort handling)
- Assess the company’s exposures and design appropriate program structures to mitigate risk while minimizing cost
- Work with third party claims administrator to structure comprehensive and competitively priced claims handling and mitigation programs
- Advise internal stakeholders regarding risk exposures and potential outcomes regarding various claims scenarios and indemnity agreements
- Build internal partnerships to highlight risk management’s value in assisting them in their business decisions
- Oversee claim notification process to insurance carriers.
- Mentors, coaches and evaluates staff. Develops team members through orientation, training, establishing objectives, communication of rules, and constructive discipline. Builds employee morale, motivation and loyalty.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 4 years of experience in Risk management and claims OR High School/GED and at least 7 years of experience in Risk management and claims.
- Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns)
- At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or crossfunctional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to/at least 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of experience in risk management/claims, OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 8 years of experience in risk management/claims.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Risk Management.
- Associate in Claims (AIC) and at least 4 years of experience in risk management/claims.
- Experience with a large, multi-state or global company in the retail or healthcare sector with a global knowledge of casualty insurance coverages.
- Experience working with casualty insurance placements, captives and self-insured retentions.
Salary Range$111000 - $188700 / Salaried
