Job Summary
Supports Company strategies through the proactive supervision of Asset Management store care services, specifically focused on proactive management of the Company’s utility consumption and alternative energy resources. Accountable for managing programs to achieve the efficient operation of utilities and energy by aligning Company budgets and expectations. Collaborates within Asset Management and the Facilities Division, as well as among internal and external stakeholders, including third-party service providers. The Senior Manager of Energy & Utilities will oversee the development and approval process for budgets. Additional responsibilities include energy price management, utility bill payment, utility relationships, vendor management, code compliance, and implementation of Asset Management store care services. Manages effective communication in both written & verbal correspondence, relationship management among all Company stakeholders. Develops and implements value creation and continuous improvement strategies.

Job Responsibilities
- Develops and implements value creation and continuous improvement strategies. Develops and implements strategic recommendations to ensure that all store care programs, including energy & utilities, are aligned with Company budgets and expectations.
- Communicates all Asset Management performance measurements, cost savings opportunities, project activity, budget performance, strategic plans, and financial reports, to leadership and key stakeholders in a frequent and timely manner.
- Ensures procurement and negotiation of electricity and natural gas contracts in all deregulated utility markets.
- Manages utility rebates for all Company facilities by procuring opportunities, leveraging third-party resources, and proposing continuous improvements.
- Manages third party utility invoice payment services, including responsibility for reporting, benchmarking, ranking, and project measurement and verification. Implements demand response programs in eligible states with utility companies and third party administrators to reduce usage and emissions, and to create revenues through capacity payments.
- Develops budgets and forecasts for electricity, natural gas, and water usage.
- Acts as the company liaison within the utility industry regarding energy-related matters, including power quality, utility program opportunities, alternative energy opportunities, outage resolution, power restoration , rate cases, and rate mitigation.
- Accountable for the review and recommendation of alternative energy sources and solutions, including development of business case documents and presentation of subject matter.
- Represents Walgreens interests in energy-related regulatory matters.
- Collaborates with individuals responsible for store care programs and services, as well as key stakeholders within the Facilities Development Division. Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities, and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of experience in the utilities and/or energy industry, OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 10 years of experience in the utilities and/or energy industry.
- Experience implementing programs that align with business goals and budgets.
- Experience in the energy commodity industry.
- Experience procuring and negotiating electricity and natural gas contracts.
- Experience managing third party vendors.
- Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and with strategic business partners in a matrix organization.
- Experience influencing the performance of groups, subordinates, and peers.
- Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- Experience responding to inquiries and/or complaints.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
- At least 3 years of experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work
- At least 2 years of experience in indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members.
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with alternative energy opportunities, including but not limited to solar, wind, geothermal, etc.
- Experience working with financial and accounting principles.
- Experience managing contracts, compliance, warranties, and/or vendor relationships.
- Experience managing mechanical equipment and systems
Salary Range$115400 - $196200 / Salaried
