Job Summary:

Provides support to pharmacies within assigned Region to improve operational performance of retail pharmacy, and drive initiatives in support of best-in-class pharmacy processes. Conduct thorough analysis of assigned pharmacies, identifying broader issues and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and patient experience. Collaborates with the regional leadership team and other Field leaders to deliver solutions that optimize program delivery. Assists with the implementation of ad hoc healthcare initiatives, programs and projects being delivered in the pharmacy.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with Field leadership in underperforming markets to perform root cause analysis addressing operational issues and service quality and diagnose areas for performance improvement ensuring the effective execution of operational procedures and meeting of market needs.
  • Identifies gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge among team members and supporting those team members in their training, either through hands-on training or assignment of learning modules.
  • Assists pharmacy manager with implementing procedures that promote the efficient workflow of the pharmacy including assigning roles, coordinating activities, and soliciting team member suggestions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point of sale registers to provide support to patients as well as pharmacy staff.
  • Assists in the implementation of ad hoc healthcare initiatives and visits selected pharmacies regularly to ensure the successful adoption of enterprise initiatives and continuous improvement for future projects. Assist with transitioning new healthcare initiatives into base business.
  • Function as a subject matter expert in reviewing training documents and standard operating procedures as they relate to pharmacy operations.
  • Helps to execute established standards of work performance and facilitate continuous improvement to reach market goals; recognizes development needs in underperforming pharmacies and capability gaps and arrange approved Pharmacy best practices to address needs.
  • Participates in regular update meetings with the regional leadership team to evaluate region-level pharmacy performance.
  • Ensures the use of all elements of the Good Faith Dispensing policy in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions. The Product Review/Retail Fill Process Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring that elements of Good Faith are present.
  • Maintains current knowledge and obtains required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations within assigned Region to provide such clinical services.
  • Maintains and enhances current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution and 6 months of retail pharmacy management experience.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the region or willing and able to obtain state licensure within 12 months of position start date.
  • Performance rating of “Achieving expectations” or higher on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the last 12 months (internal candidates only).
  • Willing to travel up to/at least 75% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Walgreens Operations Experience.
  • Experience presenting and coordinating meetings, including preparation of agendas, and communicating outcomes.
  • Experience with leading projects (for example: organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at various levels of the organization, such as peers, internal/external stakeholders, business partners, senior levelmanagers.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office suite of products
